August 25, 2017 Friday!!!

On Friday, this week, my family went to Austin, Texas for the state trooper graduation and to see the sights there! In this little day journal, it’ll include some of the highlights of this eventful day including a trip to the Austin Grafitti Park in Castle Hill and some of my favorite foods there.

The night before the graduation, my family and I found a trendy restaurantย called Perla’s Seafood and Oyster Bar Restaurant. It was located by University of Texas and a shopping outlet filled with my favorite boutiques like The Impeccable Pig and Francescas, & Kendra Scott! The seafood restaurant has the cutest outdoor setting with bright colorful patio umbrellas, string lights, large oak trees, and an elevated patio!

It was a super busy night and we ended up nearly spending 3hours there!!! The food was well worth the wait though! For the main entree I got the “Seared rare ahi tuna steak with herb salad.” and also one my favorites was their advocadoย conch ceviche & yummy fries!

Being at the ceremony was an amazing experience, there were wonderful attendees who spoke like Senator John Whitmire. In total, there were over 1,000 men and women who applied to become a trooper and only 87 recruits graduated with a badge. Honestly, it is so inspiring what these brave people are willing to do in order to protect and serve their country. Another cool highlight was being able to see Governor Greg Abbot, ah reminiscing the good old days when I sent him letters about how I wanted to be the governor, too and also getting to meet Senator Whitmire was an incredible honor. Happy congratulations and good luck to the new troopers of Texas!

Unfortunetly, it was raining when I went there which meant lots and lots of mud and slipping everywhere ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿปย but the artwork was still beautiful and people were out and about painting the walls despite the rain pouring! This place defines Austin perfectly, creative and free.ย

Don’t mess with Texas, because our cities are pretty darn cool especially Austin. Loved this place and its unique views. See you again soon,ย captial!!

If you made it this far, give this a big like!! Thank you for reading! And please everyone keep all of Texas in your hearts as Hurricane Harvey continues to affect the state.ย โ™ฅโ™ฅโ™ฅ – Katie
